How to cancel your subscription and our refund policy

How to Cancel Your Subscription
Cancel Through Account Settings
You can cancel your Rentlab subscription at any time through your account settings:
- Log in to your Rentlab account
- Navigate to Account → Billing
- Click Manage Subscription
- Select Cancel Subscription
- Confirm your cancellation
Cancel via Email
Alternatively, you can cancel by contacting our support team at help@rentlab.app. Please include your account email and confirmation that you wish to cancel your subscription.
What Happens After Cancellation
When you cancel your subscription:
- Immediate Effect: You will not be charged for any future billing periods
- Access Until Period End: Your access to paid features continues until the end of your current billing period
- Data Retention: Your data remains accessible during your paid period and for 30 days afterward
- Data Export: You can export your data at any time before or after cancellation
- Free Tier: After your paid period ends, your account automatically reverts to the free plan (if available)
Important: Make sure to export any important data before your subscription ends. We recommend using our built-in export features to download your financial records, reports, and other data.
Refund Policy
No Refunds Policy
All subscription fees are non-refundable. This includes:
- Partial months of service
- Unused time on a subscription
- Subscription charges that have already been processed
- Free trial periods that have converted to paid subscriptions
- Monthly or annual subscription renewals
Why No Refunds?
As a subscription-based service, we provision resources and provide continuous access to the platform. Once a billing period begins, our costs are incurred and the service is made available to you, regardless of how much you use it during that period.
Exceptions
Refunds may be provided in the following limited circumstances:
- Legal Requirements: Where required by applicable consumer protection laws
- Billing Errors: If we incorrectly charge your payment method
- Duplicate Charges: If you are accidentally charged multiple times for the same billing period
- At Our Discretion: In exceptional circumstances, at Rentlab's sole discretion
Dispute a Charge
If you believe you were charged incorrectly or there was a billing error, please contact us at help@rentlab.app within 30 days of the charge. Please include:
- Your account email address
- Date of the charge
- Amount charged
- Reason you believe the charge was incorrect
Free Trial Information
If Rentlab offers a free trial period:
- Automatic Conversion: Your trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period
- Advance Notification: We will send you an email reminder before your trial expires
- How to Avoid Charges: Cancel your subscription before the trial period ends to avoid being charged
- No Trial Refunds: If you forget to cancel and are charged, our no-refund policy applies
Reminder: Set a reminder for yourself to evaluate the service before your trial ends. You must cancel before the trial expiration date to avoid being charged.
Subscription Changes & Pricing
Upgrading or Downgrading
You can change your subscription tier at any time through your account settings:
- Upgrades: Take effect immediately, with prorated billing for the remainder of your current period
- Downgrades: Take effect at the end of your current billing period
Price Changes
We may change subscription fees with at least 30 days' advance notice via email. If you do not agree to the new pricing:
- You may cancel your subscription before the new pricing takes effect
- Your cancellation will prevent you from being charged the new price
- Continued use of the service after the pricing change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing
Payment Methods
We use Stripe for secure payment processing. Accepted payment methods include:
- Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
- Debit cards
- Other payment methods supported by Stripe in your region
Failed Payments
If a subscription payment fails:
- We will attempt to charge your payment method multiple times over several days
- You will receive email notifications about failed payment attempts
- Your access may be temporarily suspended until payment is resolved
- If payment cannot be collected, your subscription may be cancelled
Data and Export
Before or after cancelling your subscription, you can export your data:
- Export Formats: CSV, Excel, PDF for financial reports
- What You Can Export: Property data, tenant records, expense history, rent payments, financial reports
- Data Retention: After cancellation, you have 30 days to export your data before it is permanently deleted
- Backup Copies: We may retain backup copies for up to 90 days for disaster recovery (not accessible to you)
Important: We strongly recommend regularly exporting and backing up your data. Rentlab is not responsible for data loss after the retention period expires.
